Had a great trip over the weekend with Dr. John Boyer and his son Sean and friend Chris. We probably caught close to 40 trout and Doc caught a nice Red Fish that measured about 24 inches. We fished in the deeper parts of upper Mobile Bay near the Mobile Tensaw Delta. Our fish came from an average of about 18 to 24 foot deep. We used Mirrolure Lil John opening night colored grubs with a 3/8 ounce jig head. The trick to catching them was to work the grub as slow as you could stand it and keeping your line tight to feel the subtle bite in the deep water. It took these guys a little bit to figure it out but once they did the bite really turned on!!!
We had a great day on Dog River a couple days after Christmas with the Oliver Family. It was a cold morning but my crew was up for it! Fishing was a little slow but the fish were BIG!!! We had several fish touch 4 lbs and several more in the 2 to 3 lbs range.
Here is my good friend Peter Koch and his friend Bob from Nevada on a great fall fishing trip on the Mobile Bay Delta. Peter is a regular customer fishing the inshore waters of Mobile Alabama with me. We fished south of the Causeway most of the day and had good luck fishing grubs for Speckled Trout and Flounder. Bob was very good at the “Do Nothing” technique for the nice sized Flounder.
